Joe Biden speech: Saying he is transferring the torch to “a new generation,” President Biden addressed the country for the first time on Wednesday since dropping out of the 2024 contest, once more supporting Vice President Kamala Harris in her effort to guarantee the Democratic Party’s candidacy.
Joe Biden said “I decided the best way forward is to pass the torch to a new generation. It’s the best way to unite our nation. You know, there is a time and a place for long years of experience in public life. There’s also a time and place for new voices, fresh voices, yes, younger voices. And that time and place is now,”
The address ran around eleven minutes, during which the president, seated at the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office, highlighted his years in political office and choice to retire. First wife Jill Biden, daughter Ashley Biden, son Hunter Biden, and others attended the address alongside members of the president’s family.
The president declared he is excited about the task ahead of him in his last six months of presidency, including advocating changes to the Supreme Court.
Joe Biden remarked. Recent media revelations revealed Biden is contemplating supporting laws imposing term restrictions on Supreme Court justices and a new enforced ethics code.
“Whether we keep our republic is now in your hands…” Thank you President Joe Biden for this poignant and beautiful speech. We love you, sir. #BlueWave2024

For his address to the country Wednesday night, President Biden was accompanied in the Oval Office by several family members and officials.
First lady Jill Biden, daughter Ashley, her husband Howard Krein, son Hunter, granddaughters Maisy, Finnegan and Naomi, and grandson Hunter were seated on the president’s left, slightly off camera.
Mike Donilon, a senior adviser, was also in the room sat close to Steve Ricchetti.
Standing behind the Oval Office, next to the paintings of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, Alexander Hamilton, and Thomas Jefferson, white house press secretary Karine Jean- Pierre and advisor Ben LaBolt were back-off.
Most of the speech, Ashley Biden closed her eyes, nodded softly, and inhaled deeply while her father talked. She once dabbed her eyes with the Olympic-themed shirt she was sporting.
The first lady among other Biden family members kept close observation on the president and nodded slowly.
