Simone Biles looks more than ready to represent Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The women’s gymnastics qualification rounds start this weekend, and Biles, the most decorated gymnast of all time, gave fans (and competitors) a sneak peek at what they may expect from her.
During podium training at Bercy Arena on Thursday, Biles nailed her signature Yurchenko double pike vault – a complex and difficult vault named after Biles in 2023 after she became the first female gymnast to land it during international competition.

A video of Biles’ “unreal” vault was published by USA Gymnastics. After sticking the landing, she walked off the mats smiling.
After seeing the slow-motion of Biles’ vault, one social media user questioned her humanity. “She seriously rocks.”
According to NBC Sports, the vault has a skill rating of 6.4 because of the difficulty in landing it. Biles is in medal contention if she can replicate her performance from Thursday in competition.
Right now, we are all feeling a bit better about breathing. I’m not gonna lie,” gymnastics coach Cecile Landi said of Biles after Thursday’s session, via the Olympics website.
Everyone on the squad is really positive, you know. The Olympic Games have begun… You know, the rings are all over the place. Consequently, we are considerably more at ease. Everyone is happy for the girls. We are relaxed.
A self-assured Biles gives Team USA supporters reason to be optimistic on the night before the opening ceremony of the Olympics.
Unfortunately, Biles’s final Olympic performance was cut short when she withdrew from competition due to a terrible case of “the twisties.” In an effort to prioritise her mental health, she withdrew from multiple events; nonetheless, she came back for the balance beam and won bronze.
The qualifying rounds for the women’s gymnastics event will start on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
